Ali and Sam at Recherche Jewellery in Maidstone

What better way to seal your marriage to one another than with personally made wedding rings made at a wedding ring workshop.

I had heard of this kind of thing before but thought you had to go all the way to Hatton Garden in London for the privilege. Now, Recherché Jewellery in Maidstone offer private workshops for couples wanting to add a little personality into their wedding rings, just as Sam and Ali did.

The workshops run from around 9am to 3pm, this can vary depending on how quickly you learn and what metal you want to work with. To kick things off you spend the morning learning how to create a ring by practicing in silver on the saws, files and buffs. Then after lunch you are let loose with the metal of your choosing, which can be anything from silver to platinum or anything in between. You can be as creative as you like with designs (within your physical capabilities of course!). Be warned though, you are making your partners ring, so it better be good as they will have to look at it for the rest of eternity!!

Ali and Sam had decided to come to one of the workshops, as they love to do different things. They didn’t want to just go to a jeweler and select a wedding band in the normal way. They wanted to go that extra mile to have something that reflected them as a couple. After the rings are made you can have them inscribed on the inside with words or symbols. I asked what Ali and Sam were having; they replied a pineapple and a rocket ship…now that is definitely not the norm. We then got into a long conversation about how Ali loves Buzz Lightyear. So much so in fact that they have given their son the middle name of “BUZZ”. I told you these two like to do things differently. Ali and Sam had great fun and did a great job on the rings as you can see from the photos. It’s amazing to see a simple lump of metal turn out a few short hours later to be something so beautiful, that they will wear with pride forever. Good luck with the wedding guys The House Meadow in Biddenden in an amazing venue, you will have a great day.

If you are interested in a wedding ring workshop, you can get in touch with Recherché here and if you would like me to come along and document your day please give me a shout as well, it’s a great way to start off your wedding album.
