I have a secret to tell you, I hate wedding photographer blogs.
Mundane, boring wedding photography blog posts are the worst, agree?
In a bid to break the monotony of…It was a beautiful sunny day, the bride looked amazing, the venue was so unique and my photography kicked ass…her is Becky and Tom’s own take on their love story and wedding at ELVEY FARM in Kent.
What’s Your Story
So we met online (Tinder to be precise!) I lived in Ashford and didn’t drive. Tom lived in Shepherdswell and would drive the 40.minutes every night of the week to pick me up and take me out.
How did your Proposal go down?
The proposal (to be honest) was more of a mutual agreement that it was something we wanted to do. Tom did “officially” pop the question when on holiday in New Zealand with our eight month old. He forgot the ring three times along the way so it’s a miracle it even happened!
Why Elvey Farm as your wedding venue?
The venue meant a lot to us as it’s where we first went on a date. We went ghost hunting and that’s where I first knew I’d marry the man.
Elvey Farm is stunning and didn’t need much decorating, as it was beautiful all by itself.
In hindsight, I genuinely wouldn’t change a thing. Having the ceremony outside, the reception at the same venue as we were staying at was ideal for guests and us!
What theme or style where you after for your wedding?
We just wanted our wedding to reflect us. Not particularly refined. No airs and graces. Just relaxed, chilled and full of love.
Can you tell me about your wedding dress and shoes and any advice for future brides?
I knew I wanted something that was my every day style. I always wanted long sleeves and a long train as it just made me feel like a princess.
Shoes? What shoes?! Barefoot is the way to go, especially when you’re marrying someone 2 inches shorter than you!
My only advice would be – relax. Wear something you love and feel beautiful in.
Who did your hair and make-up and why did you choose them?
Holly Hanrahan. She was recommended to me and every word was true. She was fun, easy going and made us all look stunning!
Can you tell me about your wedding flowers?
Flowers were supplied by friends who live in a Christian community near our house. They were all wild and grown by them for our wedding.
Where did the boy’s outfits come from, what did you think about their choice?
Primark! Hahaha. We just wanted everyone to be comfortable but fit the venue which is very country.
Why did you pick me to photograph your wedding?!?
When we initially booked the venue, we went with the “recommended photographer”.
However, a few weeks later, we won a competition for a free engagement shoot with you.
As soon as we had finished, we both decided that you were our guy.
We loved your style, your vibe and generally just how well you worked with us (including Phoebe!). We knew you wouldn’t be out of place at our wedding and we looked forward to having you there.
What did you love about your wedding photography?
Ahh everything. The realness. The candour. The love. The happiness. The emphasis on the “imperfect” moments. They were the best.
Overall, you just captured us and our day in a way no one else could. You got on the floor with our toddler and were literally bowled over by my friends during the sack race!
Nothing was too much effort for you to get the shot!
Most memorable moment from the day?
Well, who could forget Tom saying the wrong name at the alter!
I also love that you captured the reaction of his dad and sister in law, hands over their eyes in disbelief – priceless!
Second to that was the sack race 100%. Grass stains and all.
What piece of advice you could share with brides to be?
Seriously, just enjoy it. Make sure you focus on you, your family and friends.
Spend money on things that are important like the music and photographs.
That’s what you’ll remember. Oh and of course – book Simon!!
What would you change if you did the day again?
Not. One. Thing.
It was the best day I have ever experienced. Everyone commented on how chilled out it was but they also noticed the small touches which meant so much to us. From the photographer to the entertainment, everything was perfect.
Tell us about your suppliers and the little wedding touches?
