Roisin and Bradley…the prom King and Queen
It’s obvious if you are your schools prom King and Queen, that you should eventually get married. I’m too old to know how you become a prom King and Queen but I am sure it must be based on love…or something like that. I’ve never photographed royalty before, let alone members of the royal family in an intimate engagement shoot. So you can imagine what a treat it was for me to photograph Queen Rosin and King Bradley. They may not be actual members of the royal family but they are the closest I am getting to for a while so I thought it was only right and proper to have a royal setting for the occasion. I live in the beautiful Kent countryside in Throwley near Faversham, where most of the farmland around is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. So what better place for a photo shoot than an old cow shed, once owned by the future King of England! Now owned by my lovely neighbours Alison and Tim who kindly let us throw paint powder up their walls.
I like to mix my engagement shoots up a little these days, getting away from my usual style of documentary photography. If the truth be told I hate engagement photography, it’s contrived and boring and as soon as the wedding pictures arrive, these images are confined to the draw or worse still on a USB in the draw, what a waste of time and effort. This is why I give my couples a little something extra and creative. The intimate shots below could easily adorn the cover of a glossy magazine or Hugo Boss campaign (if I do say so myself). I want Roisin and Bradley to love these images forever and keep them on their walls, not in the draw. Of course its also good to have a little fun and that is where the holi powder comes in…who doesn’t like throwing paint at each other right?
I’d love to photograph some more intimate sessions, so whether you are about to get married or just fancy a photo shoot down on the farm with your girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife give me a shout, and don’t forget to check out more of my work on my blog, Facebook, Instagram and Vimeo pages.
